Transparency. Responsibility. Improvement.
The Environmental Product Declaration is a technical document, independently verified, that presents the environmental impacts of our aluminium alloy castings in a transparent and objective way.
Our EPD is registered with The International EPD® System under number EPD-IES-0026690:001 and is based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) compliant with ISO 14025:2006, PCR 2023:01 (Fabricated metal products) and the principles of UNI EN ISO 14040 / 14044:2021.
The LCA study was conducted by S.C.F. International using 2024 production data, with the SimaPro 10.2.0.1 software and the Ecoinvent 3.11 database. The independent third-party verification was carried out by SGS ICS Italia Srl, accredited by Accredia (n° 02242).
Extract of the mandatory EN 15804+A2 / EF 3.1 indicators, calculated for 1 kg of finished aluminium product, packaging included. All values have been verified by an independent third party.
Total carbon footprint of the product. Fossil share 24.9 — biogenic 0.055 — land use 0.190.
27.4 MJ from renewable sources + 280 MJ from non-renewable sources, expressed as net calorific value.
Water scarcity potential (WDP) of 7.57 m³ eq. per kg of cast product.
Hazardous 0.0121 — non-hazardous 0.167 — radioactive 1.70 × 10⁻⁴ kg per kg of casting.
Cestaro Fonderie's EPD is drafted according to the international standards of the EPD® System and verified by SGS ICS Italia Srl, accredited by Accredia.
Defines the principles and procedures for Type III environmental declarations: quantitative data, product category rules and independent verification.
Product Category Rules for fabricated metal products, excluding construction products, as revised by the Technical Committee of the EPD® System.
The LCA covers all the relevant stages of the cast product according to PCR 2023:01 — from raw materials to finishing operations, before the casting leaves the plant.
Production of aluminium alloys (94% Al, 6% alloying elements), ancillary materials and primary / secondary packaging production.
94% Al · 0.9% post-consumerLogistics of raw materials to the group's production sites: Cavazzale, Monticello Conte Otto, Bressanvido.
Upstream moduleProduction of sand cores at the Cavazzale plant — the heart of our production chain.
Plant · CavazzaleMelting and sand casting operations at the foundry of Monticello Conte Otto.
Plant · Monticello Conte OttoFinishing operations, quality control and shipment of the finished casting from the Bressanvido plant.
Plant · BressanvidoMeasuring is the first form of responsibility. The EPD is how we make public, number by number, the real impact of every casting that leaves our foundry.
